Teaming up with Willow Tree Photography

I first met Coral, of Willow Tree Photography, when I found out she was the class photographer for Mia's preschool. I asked her to coffee one day because I love talking photography with other photographers. She is an absolute doll and has the most beautiful hair. Seriously, I spend 15 minutes trying to get my hair to look like that only to have it fall flat as soon as I step out the door. ;) And her bubbly, loving life personality is absolutely infectious.

Then I had the pleasure of photographing her and her husband celebrating their 6th wedding anniversary. How adorable are these two?!

I loved getting to photograph them in front of some of their favorite downtown Louisville spots.

Seriously, they couldn't be any cuter.

So I was very excited to be approached by Coral to team up to offer our clients an even better opportunity. She is an expert at Maternity photographs. She captures those sweet candid moments as a couple, the beauty and glow that resonates from the new mother, and shares your story through portraits. Then once your sweet bundle has made their appearance, Mia Bella Photography will continue that story with portraits you can cherish as that sweet baby grows up.

Interested? Here are the details on how you can benefit from having TWO photographers
celebrate in your upcoming joyful addition!

Newborn Photoshoot Gift Certificates Now Available!

My husband laughs every time I come home from a photoshoot because I say, "Oh families are my favorite!" or "Yeah kids are definitely my favorite" or there's "Yep, high school seniors, favorite, hands down." I think they're all my favorites, but is there such a thing as better than favorite?

Because if there is... then NEWBORNS are it for me. Funny thing is, when I started this company, I never thought I'd want to photograph babies. Frankly, the 1,000 pound horse which towered over scared me LESS than a 7 pound squishy baby. I just didn't think I'd know what to do, how to hold them, how to NOT break them. I mean, I have my own daughter who is 5 now... and I have yet to break her!

Several months ago I decided to give it a go. And you know as a kid when you kick and scream to not try a certain food, then you do, and you LOVE LOVE LOVE it?

I don't know, something just clicked. {photography humor, d'ya catch that?} Holding them, loving them, putting them in baskets with funny hats on their heads then holding them in place until they stay there... ;) It is just so. much. fun. And it's so relaxed in the new parents' home. I wish I had known of something like this when Mia was born... if only I had started the company before her, right? ;) A recent Mom called me the baby whisperer... I didn't have the heart to tell her this story I just told you... if she only knew.

But now, oh NOW! I wish I could shoot babies EVERY DAY! {more photog humor... shoot... get it? *snicker*} So I've made up this pretty little 5X7 gift certificate and will soon have them in stock for you to purchase. They're printed front and back and come with an envelope. You can value you them at any price. They will make such a great (and different) gift at the new Mama's baby shower! And if know someone who might be interested in purchasing an MBP Newborn gift certificate, won't you please pass along the information?

You can contact me at Jilli@MiaBPhotography.com, pay by credit card over the phone or by PayPal and I will send you your authorized gift certificate in a padded envelope in the mail.

I think I could shoot babies every single day (wait, that sounds weird)... either way... newborns... they are the favorite of my favorites. ;)

Meet Becca! Mia Bella Photography's Senior Rep for the Homeschooling Division

On the senior representative questionaire, I told my entrants to "describe their style." I had not yet met Becca in person, but knew her answer to this question was, "Relaxed, casual, sporty and country-chic." When Becca stepped around from her mother's car, I laid my eyes on this beauty in her lace asymmetical dress in one of the most gorgeous colors of coral, paired with her jean jacket and super cute little ankle boots... country-chic for SURE!!! And that bright beautiful color matches this sweet girl's disposition!! An absolute doll!

Becca is representing all those kids who are brave enough to not only have their parents as well, parents, but to have them as TEACHERS as well!! ;) And she absolutely loves it. Can you imagine having your favorite teacher be your DAD?! How cool is that?! And a special thank you to Mr. Turner for letting Becca out of class yesterday morning for a photoshoot! What other teacher would allow that?!

I was delighted to find out that Becca is best friends with Ally, my rep from North Oldham! Small world! And just like Ally, I managed to choose another beautiful young girl who has values and compassion beyond most adults. Becca's insight on pet peeves, "when people, in general, think they are better than others by how they look, how much money they have, where they live and their personalities. God created us to all be equal." Dang. When was the last time I took advice from an 18 year old?! I should. Beautiful.

Becca is the setter for her volleyball team. Now, I played volleyball for one year in middle school. I was on junior varsity, sat most of the time on the bench and at the rare treat of getting to play, I usually ran in the other direction of the ball. Volleyball is hard!! And it HURTS!! And how they serve that ball overhanded with such force amazes me. Way to go Becca!!!

One of Becca's favorite places to hang out is Norton Commons and I'm sure with her love of photography she brings it along to capture all the fabulous achitecture which abounds in that neighborhood! And both my reps so far love photography! Gotta love those artsy girls!! But instead of Norton Commons, Becca, her Mom Lisa and I took a little trip to the quaint town of LaGrange. The main street of this little town is lined with little boutiques, bistros, and antique stores, but all this is certainly not to be outdone by the active railroad tracks that run right through smack dab in the middle of the street.

And with those railroad tracks and a cool, hazy morning, what else is there to do than sit right down on them? And with a vintage suitcase, that's exactly what we did.

We chitty chatted about her fabulous little black and pearl necklace and how she absolutely adores her sister. Becca and I were lost in girly picture land when Mama from the sidelines called out that she heard a train whistle. Sure enough! There in the distance was the light and I knew we only had a few more minutes left available on the tracks!! I decided to use one of said minutes to ponder if I had enough time to safely finish my poses on the tracks before getting run over... and spent the next couple minutes actually shooting those poses as Mama kept a watchful eye on the approaching train! We could FEEL the rumbling in the tracks!

Now, now, I never once had this sweet thing in any danger. We hopped off the train tracks and had time to set up for this super cool shot as the train whizzed past behind her. What a perfect photo opportunity.

I had a wonderful time spending my morning with Becca. She is just a doll and has the most beautiful skin and dark hair! Not to mention I wanted to pocket her necklace... but I refrained. ;)

Thank you Becca for representing Mia Bella Photography!! And if you know sweet Becca, make sure you ask her for one of her REP CARDS!!! She will have them in just a couple weeks ready to share and that little card when turned in to me at the time of your senior shoot, will get you 15% off your session fee!

All the best to you Becca!!

Meet Ally! Mia Bella Photography Senior Rep for North Oldham!

It was an absolute JOY working with Ally! Her attitude and personality are just as beautiful as what you see on the outside!

Not only is she a trend setter, she has brains behind that beautiful smile! Her favorite class last year was AP Government. She exudes confidence as she loves to debate and assert her opintions while debating important governmental issues.

While my biggest pet peeve right now is the beeping of my dryer, Ally's is people who aren't accepting. Wow. Acceptance of others... at high school age... THAT is an incredible quality to possess!

Bubbly and fun, Ally brought along her camera... an aspiring photographer... a girl after my own heart!

When I asked Ally where she thought she'd be in 10 years... teaching an elementary school class. And as my daughter just began her elementary education journey, to have a teacher with the bright personality and sweetness that Ally has, she will make an incredible teacher!!

Ally is the triple threat. Beauty, Smarts and Athletic!! She is varsity captain of not one, but TWO athletic teams - cross country and track. And she's also the Present of North Oldham's "Women's Leadership Board." And if that wasn't a busy schedule enough, in her spare time Ally is involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters and Northeast Christian's Kidville.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am super honored that Ally is one of our girls representing Mia Bella Photography!

So if you know Ally, check out her other photos on Mia Bella's Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/MiaBPhotography and be sure to ask her for one of her REP CARDS!! When you have that little card at the time of YOUR senior photo session, you will receive 15% off your session fee!

Good luck Ally this year!! You're going to do GREAT!!!!

Senior Portraits 1997 vs 2013 {Louisivlle, KY Senior Photographer}

Senior portraits have come a looooooooooooong way, wouldn't you say? Take my senior portrait for example...

Which color backdrop would you like? Black? White? Or marble blue, purple and grey swirls? Yes. THAT'S the one I shall choose! Following senior portraits for this '97 grad (eek! quick math people know my real age!) included this same pose with my 5 pound poodle and my flute. Oh and then there was the standing next to the LIFESIZE 9 and 7. Not to be outdone by the "outdoor portraiture" of me standing in front of my white Mustang rocking my jean bib overalls. I thought I was HOT STUFF. Now there's nothing wrong with studio photography! And senior portraits were a must "back then", but today... well, photography has just come a long way in general. Today... we have...

THIS!

So Class of 2013, what is your style? What is your personality? What makes you, YOU? Mia Bella Photography is now taking appointments for your class. Visit us on Facebook, the site or send us an email at Jilli@MiaBPhotography.com. I'd love to hear from you - as long as you promise not to poke fun at MY senior portrait. ;)
